more relevant movie recommendations for Netflix customers by linking Netflix movie
queues into the TrustedOpinion.com recommendations network. Trusted Opinion is a
free online community that brings people and their network of friends together to
share opinions and receive personalized recommendations. By weighing the opinions of
people in one's social network highest, TrustedOpinion.com members experience higher
quality and more pertinent recommendations. The site is currently focused on movies
and television series will introduce new categories in the near future.

When members log into TrustedOpinion.com, they can access top-rated theatrical
releases and DVDs ranked based on the opinions of their circle of friends. Once
they click on a movie, a personalized movie score is displayed, along with a
visually rich, 3-D "Ratings RadarT" that displays a member's circle of friends and
their individual ratings for the film. Members can get recommendations for every
movie genre, and can also use the Ratings RadarT to explore their friends' recent
activity and discover and meet new people who share the same tastes.

While reading the review of a promising movie, members can now click on a Netflix
icon, enter their Netflix username and password, and have the movie automatically
added to their Netflix queue. Trusted Opinion remembers the Netflix login
information to simplify the process for the next time. Members can also click the
Amazon.com icon to buy the movie.

While other review sites show users an average score for each item, Trusted
Opinion's patent-pending recommendation algorithm places greater value on the
reviews of friends, and friends of friends, up to four degrees, and creates
personalized scores for each movie. Opinions come in and intelligent,
individualized recommendations go out. This approach ensures that each member gets
quality recommendations based on the opinions of the people they trust, instead of
from random strangers.

Trusted Opinion also factors in friends' reviews specifically to ensure that "review
spam" (i.e. commercially biased reviews) have little or no effect on the
recommendations the member receives. TrustedOpinion.com even lets members "tune"
recommendations by specifying which friends' opinions they value highest.
